Scam alert: Scammers claiming to be doctors

Please be aware of a scam currently happening in Sussex where patients are receiving calls from people claiming to be doctors.

We have been alerted to a scam operating in Sussex. Recently, a 93-year-old patient received a scam call to his home. The caller identified themselves as a doctor calling on behalf of the surgery and persuaded the patient to ‘buy’ a medical monitoring device or smart watch.

The patient handed over his bank details. The surgery only found out because the patient mentioned it at an appointment later that day.
