High blood pressure (hypertension) happens when the force on the walls of blood vessels (caused by the blood within them) is more than normal. This means the heart has to work harder and the blood vessels are under more strain, making it a major risk factor for heart disease, stroke and other serious conditions.
As part of your Hypertension monitoring, you will be contacted by SMS or letter requesting an up to date blood pressure reading. If you do not have access to a blood pressure monitor we have one located in the Ground Floor Reception area at the Practice. Depending on your reading you may be asked to start a further 4 or 7 day blood pressure diary. If you do not have access to a blood pressure monitor we have monitors that can be borrowed.
If you would rather see a Healthcare Assistant to take your blood pressure reading please contact the Practice and we can book you in for this.
