In pre-diabetes (impaired glucose tolerance, now usually referred to by doctors and nurses as non-diabetic hyperglycaemia (NDH)), your blood sugar (glucose) is raised beyond the normal range. Whilst this raised glucose level is not so high that you have type 2 diabetes, you are at increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes when you have pre-diabetes.
As part of your NDH monitoring you will be contacted by SMS or letter to invite you in for a glucose blood test.
NDH patients are eligible for the free NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme, which provide tailored personalised support to reduce the risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes. Patients can self refer at the following link. You will need to provide your last blood glucose date and result as part of the referral. Please contact us on 01273 736030 if you require this information.
