The NHS 111 service
NHS 111 is the NHS non-emergency number. It’s fast, easy and free. Call 111 and speak to a highly trained adviser, supported by healthcare professionals. They will ask you a series of questions to assess your symptoms and immediately direct you to the best medical care for you.
NHS 111 is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Calls are free from landlines and mobile phones.
NHS 111 makes it easier for patients to access local NHS healthcare services - It's a fast and easy way to get the right help, whatever the time.
In West Sussex the service is jointly provided by South East Coast Ambulance Service and Harmoni.
The NHS 111 service is for anyone who:
- Needs medical help but it isn’t a 999 emergency
- Doesn’t have a GP or know how to access healthcare
- Isn’t sure whether they need A&E or another urgent care service
