Average GP earnings
NHS England require that the earnings of doctors engaged in providing NHS services is publicised. However, it should be noted that the prescribed method for calculating earnings is potentially misleadingbecause it takes no account of how much time doctors spend working in the practice and should not be used to form any judgement about GP earnings, nor to make any comparison with any other GP practice.
Because Trinity Medical Centre is a new GP practice formed from the merger of Central Hove Surgery and Sackville Medical Centre we have give the figures for these 2 practices for the last financial year below:
The average pay for GPs working in Central Hove Surgery in the 2015-16 financial year was £43,309 before tax and national insurance. This is for 1 full time, 3 part time and 2 locum GPs who worked in the practice for more than 6 months.
The average pay for GPs working in Sackville Medical Centre in the 2015-16 financial year was £78,426 before tax and national insurance. This is for 2 full time and 3 part time GPs who worked in the practice for more than 6 months.
